Kampala, Uganda –

Uganda is gearing up to host the Afro-Arab Youth Congress 2025, one of the most anticipated youth gatherings on the global calendar, set for 6th–10th October at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.

Themed “Amplifying Youth Voices for Peace, Unity, and Prosperity” the congress is expected to bring together over 1,500 delegates, including youth leaders, policymakers, development partners, academics, and private sector players from across Africa and the Arab world.

Founded in 2004 in Khartoum, Sudan, the Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) serves as a bridge between Africa and the Arab world, advocating for youth inclusion in peacebuilding, economic transformation, and cultural cooperation. Uganda has played a pivotal role in the Council’s growth, hosting its Secretariat since 2008 under a Host Country Agreement with the government, with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni serving as its Patron.

This year’s congress will not only act as a dialogue platform but will also launch a major fundraising campaign to support the construction of the AAYC’s international headquarters in Uganda. The multi-billion-dollar project will feature an office block, a University of Science and Technology, an international sports stadium, a three-star hotel, and an Afro-Arab Cultural Heritage Centre

The event is expected to be graced by nine Heads of State, with the Presidents of the United Arab Emirates and Kenya presiding over the opening ceremony, while the leaders of Morocco and Nigeria will close the gathering.

Hon. Agaba Abbas, the General Secretary of AAYC and a member of the organizing committee, emphasized the historic significance of the congress:

“This congress will not only cement Afro-Arab solidarity but also unlock opportunities for young people in education, sports, and innovation. Uganda is proud to host this historic event, and we are confident it will leave a legacy of unity and progress.”

The congress will feature plenary sessions, cultural showcases, interactive youth-led workshops, and a high-profile fundraising gala. Delegates will also convene the AAYC General Council to adopt a joint declaration on peace, unity, and development, setting the organization’s strategic direction for the next expected

Uganda is expected to benefit significantly from hosting the event—not just through tourism and international visibility, but also via business networking opportunities and strengthened geopolitical engagement between Africa and the Arab world.

With preparations in full swing, the Afro-Arab Youth Congress 2025 promises to be a watershed moment for youth empowerment, offering a platform for fresh ideas, stronger Afro-Arab ties, and concrete commitments to sustainable peace and development.
