Suspected Killer of Kampala businessman arrested in Kanungu

The Police in Kanungu District have arrested a 28-year-old Private Security Guard identified as Hillary Byaruhanga who is accused of murdering businessman Anthony Mutinisa, the proprietor of Mutinisa Motors Uganda in Kampala.

The suspect, Byaruhanga was attached to Don World Security Limited is alleged to have shot Mutinisa dead on Sunday evening before fleeing the scene with the victim’s vehicle, registration number UA 769 BQ.

Byaruhanga had been on the run since Sunday but was tracked down and arrested on Monday in Kanungu District, near the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) border, where he had been hiding.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed the arrest and revealed that Byaruhanga was captured alongside Mark Akampa, whose role in the crime is still under investigation.

Preliminary investigations show that after killing his boss, Byaruhanga disabled the company’s CCTV system by removing video footage, stole an undisclosed amount of money, and fled in Mutinisa’s latest Toyota Land Cruiser V8 SUV.

Rusoke confirmed the arrest, revealing that the stolen vehicle was later recovered in Rutwe Cell in Kihihi Town Council in Kanungu District.
