Police in Kampala are investigating allegations that former Masaka Woman MP flag bearer Justin Nameere and her husband assaulted and robbed singer and presidential advisor Jennifer Full Figure on Friday night.
According to a statement recorded at the Kampala Metropolitan Police headquarters, Full Figure, whose real name is Jennifer Namutebi Nakangubi, claimed she was intercepted along Kyadodo Road on August 29 while heading to a hotel to attend a press conference organized by political mobilizer Moses Kalangwa.
Full Figure alleges that Nameere and her husband physically assaulted her before stealing her phone and Shs 500,000 in cash. The altercation reportedly left her shaken but without serious injury.
Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed that a case of assault and robbery has been registered, and detectives have since visited the crime scene. He added that statements from witnesses were taken and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the suspects.
The alleged attack has drawn public attention due to the prominence of the individuals involved. Full Figure, a vocal presidential advisor and musician, has previously been in the spotlight for her outspoken political commentary. Nameere, on the other hand, is a media personality and politician who contested as the NRM flag bearer for Masaka Woman MP.
