The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Friday submitted more than two million signatures to the Electoral Commission (EC) endorsing President Yoweri Museveni’s nomination as the party’s presidential flag bearer for the 2026 general elections.
The submission was led by the Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, alongside senior party officials, who were accompanied by a jubilant procession of leaders and supporters, to the EC headquarters in Kampala.
The secretary general added that the overwhelming turnout reflected the party’s nationwide strength and predicted that it would translate into decisive victories for both the President and other NRM candidates in 2026.
Party officials described the exercise as symbolic, saying it signified the commitment of NRM supporters to safeguard the party’s political gains and advance Uganda’s development agenda.
