For years, the people of Kihiihi Town Council in Kanungu District had waited in vain for a decent home for their Town Council Headquarters. What had begun in 2013 as a presidential pledge soon turned into an abandoned dream — the construction of a Town Council headquarters stalled mid way, leaving an abandoned foundation and unfulfilled promises. The community’s hope was slowly fading, until one man refused to accept failure: Hon. James Kaberuka, the MP for Kinkizi West.

Unlike many who simply talk, Kaberuka rolled up his sleeves and took on the burden himself. He knocked on office doors, pleaded in government corridors, and stood on the floor of Parliament defending the plight of his people. His persistence finally paid off when the Ministry of Finance allocated Shs 607 million to complete the long-forgotten project which was released in two phases. Kaberuka not only secured the money but also ensured that every shilling was accounted for.

The funds were released in two phases, and under Kaberuka’s close supervision, the dream took shape. Today, Kinkizi West boasts a magnificent storied building in the heart of Kihiihi Town Council.

Kaberuka is now lobbying government to provide more funding to furnish the building, design the compound and also to connect water to it.

“This building is not just bricks and tiles, it is a symbol of dignity and respect for the people of Kinkizi West,” said one emotional councillor. “When leaders proposed to roof it with iron sheets, Hon. Kaberuka stood firm. He insisted on tiles because his people deserve the best. I have never seen such an MP.”

The persuance of this project has sparked joy across the constituency. Residents say it is living proof of what happens when an MP truly loves his people. Many have already vowed to stand by Kaberuka in the next election, seeing him not just as a politician but as a dependable servant leader.

For Kankizi West, this is not the first time Kaberuka has delivered. Over the years, he has lobbied for billions of shillings to improve schools, roads, and health centres, setting his district apart from many others across the country.

To the people of Kihiihi, Hon. James Kaberuka is more than an MP — he is a hero who turned broken promises into lasting progress.

Before being elected as the area, Kaberuka served as a Village Youth Chairperson for Rukarara village, Sub County Councilor representing Rwanga Ward in Kihihi Town Council and later represented Kihihi Town Council in the District Council where he is hailed for fighting corruption and being a truthful leader. Now with Kihihi Town Council and Kinkizi West in general having such magnificent headquarters, which you can’t find anywhere, Kaberuka stands out as a beacon of hope for the people of Kinkizi West and Kanungu District in general
