Kabale, Uganda – June 9, 2025
In a bold show of solidarity with women and families, Hon. Nicolas Kamara, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Kabale Municipality (PFF), made headlines over the weekend as he championed the cause of women’s health at the Conference of Women Destiny held in Kabale District.
The conference, which brought together women leaders, family advocates, and community members, focused on critical issues affecting families, with a particular emphasis on maternal health and women’s empowerment.
Hon. Kamara, who attended as a guest of honor, made a generous donation of 500,000 Ugandan Shillings to support the initiatives spearheaded by the organizers. His contribution was warmly received, not just as a financial gesture but as a symbol of his longstanding commitment to the welfare of women in Kabale.
In his keynote address, Kamara used the platform to outline a portion of his upcoming election manifesto, centering on improved healthcare services and family support systems. He passionately called for more investment in safe motherhood programs, improved access to maternal health services, and increased awareness around family planning.
“Every mother deserves the right to safe and dignified childbirth,” Kamara declared, earning a standing ovation from the attendees. He emphasized the urgent need for well-equipped health centers, skilled birth attendants, and continuous community sensitization on maternal health.
The MP’s speech struck a chord with many in attendance, particularly local women leaders who applauded his hands-on approach and consistent engagement with grassroots issues.
“This is not the first time Hon. Kamara has shown up for women. He walks the talk,” said one participant, a local women’s group leader. “His message gives us hope that our issues are being taken seriously at the national level.”
As Kabale gears up for the next round of elections, Kamara’s active involvement in community-focused initiatives like the Conference of Women Destiny seems to reinforce his image as a people-centered leader, with a special focus on family health and women’s empowerment.
The Conference of Women Destiny closed on a high note, with renewed energy among participants to push for stronger family support systems and greater political accountability in addressing women’s health across the district.
