Like his historical speech at Kololo while closing NRM internal leadership elections when he vowed to district leadership to fight corruption, president Museveni has assured that Ugandans that his zeal on the vide is in high gear.
Speaking on Wednesday during a huge rally in Amolatar ,Lango sub region, Gen Yoweri Miseveni who is seeking for support in the incoming polls said on he would set up a spy network to catch officials and community leaders accused of stealing government medicines and funds from the Parish Development Model (PDM).
He said corruption was eroding trust in government programmes and depriving citizens of vital services a thing he will not allow.
He said given a new term of office Ugandans would get a better test of the NRM gains which he out to protect.
“These health centers are not in Congo or Sudan; they are here with us,” the 79-year-old leader told thousands of supporters.
“Stop stealing drugs. I will set up my own spy network to catch those stealing government drugs and even PDM money. We cannot allow a few criminals to frustrate the transformation of our people.”
Uganda’s PDM, launched in 2022, channels funds directly to grassroots in order to promote the money economy.
On economic priorities, he promised to promote fishpond farming in wetlands through government-backed credit facilities, saying fisheries would generate higher incomes than rice cultivation.
He also confirmed a plan to compensate families in northern Uganda with five cows each, addressing a longstanding demand from war-affected communities.
