Security and police have launched investigations after residnts of Nagalabi in Buddo, Wakiso District, discovered a body of a young woman murdered in the historically site of Buganda Kingdom.

The gruesome incident occurred over the weekend, sending waves of panic through the community.

The body of the yet-to-be-identified woman, believed to be in her 20s, was found near a bushy path close to a residential stretch not far from the royal site.

Witnesses say she appeared to have been beaten and strangled before being dumped in the area, raising serious concerns about growing insecurity even in culturally sacred places.

Local residents were the first to find the body early Saturday morning.

Children heading to collect water stumbled upon the horrific scene and raised an alarm.

Police quickly arrived at the scene, sealed it off, and commenced preliminary investigations.

Nagalabi is famously known as the coronation ground for the kings of Buganda, a location revered for its deep cultural and royal significance.

The murder occurring in such a sacred place has sparked outrage among cultural leaders and citizens alike.

Security personnel believe the woman may have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped near Nagalabi to possibly avoid detection.

The police have taken her body to Mulago Hospital for a postmortem.
